But first, have you noticed how we often associate different attributes with different days of the week? For example, Mondays fill some with dread, Fridays we’re thankful for, Saturdays we like to get things done, and Sundays are often days for family or rest?
And have you ever wondered whether these arbitrary associations are helpful? Because of course for many of us they’re not.
So what’s a person to do?
Well, if you know me then you know my mantra ‘You can choose to do something different’! Because if you’re not as effective as you’d like to be, or you struggle with focus and never seem to get through your ‘to-do’ list, then you might be stuck in a rut with your thinking as well as your behaviour. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying ‘if you do what you always do you’ll get what you’ve always got’?
So one easy way to shake things up is to get playful and have fun, because play can instantly turn on your creativity, fire you up and allow for new insights and actions.
So how can you get playful with the days of the week? How can you make the time you have available to you each and every day more exciting as well as more productive?
One way is to rename the days of the week and give them your own definitions.
I have Tom Evans to thank for this idea. His magical week video blog really set my creative juices flowing and has given me a different, more playful focus to running my week.
So how might this work for you? Check out my example below for inspiration then have some fun yourself 🙂
MINE Day – My day to mine my internal resources for marketing (writing and recording)
TEASE Day – My day to build relationships and have fun with clients, partners and connections
WORDS Day – My day to learn and to create resources
SURGE Day – My day to move big projects forward and dance with clients
FREE UP Day – Round up morning and creative afternoon
SATISFY Day – My day to please myself and connect with loved ones and nature
SUM Day – My day to reflect, relax and rejuvenate
In my experience FUN is an often overlooked element in helping you build your business and indeed live your life ‘On Purpose.’ Which is a shame, because when you have fun it makes you feel great, and when you’re feeling great it’s easier to be in the flow, allowing time to slow and you to get things done with ease.
So why not give this a try? It will only take 5 minutes of your time.
